Please Slow Down in Campgrounds this Fall

As we enter the Fall camping season, most campgrounds, especially in northern sectors, are a lot less busy. We all need to be aware to slow down while driving on camp roads. Just because parks have less campers and camp roads are empty it does not mean we can ignore the park's' posted speed limits. I know that I have had the tendency to drive a little faster and I have had to catch myself.

It's a great time to go for walks around the parks and on weekends for parents to let kids run around a little free-er. Another thing is that it gets darker earlier which can present some additional hazards.

Please be careful this Fall and enjoy the season.

  • While we're at it, please respect the one way signs, even if your campsite is "right there" at the end... driving the wrong way down those narrow roads can really cause some grief for other campers just coming in.
  • When I'm in a campground and I see people coming in in lowered pickup trucks on custom wheels and the bed full of tent camping gear and a giant propane bbq; I know it's time to go home.
  • And stay on your side of the road!!!!
(Thank you guy who didn't know how to drive his rv and went mirror jousting with me this summer! At least mine just popped the glass out into my lap, but I knocked your mirror clean off and then ran it over! I win!)
