- RoyBExplorer IIThat is something on my wish list as well. We use our five-day COLEMAN ice chest which works well but you always have to go get more ice sooner or later... Not so bad when camping close to the towns but is a big pain when back off the power grid somewhere...
Momabear has to have her ice...
Roy Ken - koda55Explorerwe bought ours when we had a gas rv and no ice maker in the fridge. Now we have a ice maker in the fridge and wife and I prefer the portable. Makes ice so much faster.

Our Magic Chef arrived today and look forward to the convieniece and not running every day and paying for 2 bags.
Estimate it will pay for itself in a few months as we are out over 10 months of the year.
I thing so too!
BTW
Wow, your back yard views are awesome! - ronniedean1234ExplorerWould not leave home without it...

I purchased a Magic Chef ice maker for $93 at Home Depot during a July 4th sale. We love this unit and wouldn't camp without one now.
Magic Chef
X2. Love ours, have not purchased ice since. Wife loves how fast is it works. Best money I've spent in awhile. Happy camping. - old_guyExplorerSurprise, all the ice makers are made by Magic chef and magic chef is a sub division of magtag. they just put different names on them for their customers and the customers sell them for what ever they can get out of them.
- CampinfanExplorer IIIWe love ours.
- Clay_LExplorerWe used one for seven or eight years and wouldn't be without it. Note that it doesn't refrigerate the ice but relies on insulation to keep it.
The first machine we got died before the warranty was up and they replaced it with a new one. The control board in the second one failed during warranty. It is still working. I don't hear much about them failing now so maybe they have a handle on quality now.
Since we are going to sell the rig now that we have settled down in one spot we gave ours to my wifes sister and her husband.
I have worked on several of them and looked at a bunch of others. The were all made and private labeled by the same Chinese manufacturer. The differences between brands and model appears to be all cosmetic.
If I were going to buy a new one I would shop by price and features not brand. I have seen them on sale at Target for under $100.
