Portable Ice Makers

Went camping this weekend and forgot to grab some ice. Wasn't a big deal. Didn't end up needing it so much. Made a tray of it and it sufficed. Saw some people with a portable ice maker and thought it would be a good idea to have one. Ordered one and hope to have it soon.

For those that have them, how do you like them?
  • The less I have to put in my MH that takes up any more space the better. Bags of ice cost a few bucks.

Four bags of ice in a cheap throw away cooler has always keep me and my friends in cold ones! Just don't see the need for an ice maker.
  • We used to have one with an older coach. They're available at WalMart and Home Depot. Try it out for 30 days...$$ back if you don't like it....ours worked great but took up counter space.....Dennis
  • Ours came from Compact appliances with free shipping and it has been running for three seasons. Last year I did have to take it apart and clean the water pump, but it sure is nice to have lots of ice. We also have a small refer with a separate freezer that we usually keep filled with ice. They are nice, but you have to be aware that they do not hard freeze the ice, so you need to have a way to harden it up for use.

BTW Ice makers sit outside on a small collapsible table just fine. No need for taking up an counter space. Heck we sit ours on top of the outside refer and it works OK.
