Maybe this has been posted before , but here goes. What would be the problem with major RV manufactures NOT using a rubber roof products on the roof , but using a spray like Line-x , Rhino coat, or another product used in the box of PU trucks? It is very tuff , durable to all types of weather and seems to last very long . Just saying.....Life is Good.

glad to see they took off the rubber and applied to wood beneath it. I didn't know that they had aluminum rhino coat.

Rubber roofs by themselves are decent, but the implementation on RVs essentially stamps an expiration date on the rig, especially if the rig is fiberglass and prone to delamination.

It doesn't cost that much more, why don't RV makers go with an aluminum roof like Livin' Lite does? If placed and bent around the corners, other than around vents and skylights, there is no place for water to get in even if all the caulk seals failed. To boot, a branch scrape that goes undetected would not create a major leak and total the rig.

The ideal would be a one piece metal roof combined with the rvroof.com sealant on top. No caulk, no Eternabond, multiple layers protecting against water, and top tier insulation.

This post has pointed out an interesting feature of
this era's RV industry....

Rubber roofs have always struck me as built in obsolescence.

... and make one of the most important parts of the vehicle
the most difficult/expensive/dangerous to maintain.

it is time to re-think the roof.

I had this done by David's Permanent Coating's, Inc this past April. I have a 37' coach and was charged $4839.00 including tax. We noticed it was much quieter when raining and the interior seemed to be cooler as compared to previous years.

The biggest plus (time will tell) is not having to clean and seal the roof every year. I've been paying an average of $700.00 each year to clean and seal my roof (I'm not climbing up on the roof in 90+ degree weather at my age).

I wasn't thinking $135.00 per foot was unreasonable for the amount of work needed.

The spray on sure looks nice.

If you can have a hail storm tear up your rubber roof and use the insurance money......
