I am so glad I found this thread. I have a camper whose dry weight is 6442 and a 2012 F150 Ecoboost 3.55 rear end but without the Max Tow package. Just the standard towing package. It comes with a transmission cooler and oil cooler. It has plenty of torque. I have add on mirror extenders and a Class IV hitch rated up to 10,500 pounds and a tongue weight of 1050 pounds. My tongue weight when dry is advertised as 500 pounds but in reality (checked with a Sherline scale)is 420 pounds with an empty trailer. Now I know I have to add tongue weight somehow but I'm not spending thousands more on a Hensley or ProPride setup to help with that problem. I have a Husky WDH and a anti-sway unit and it will have to do. I'm also not going to trade in my 2012 F150 that has all of 8,000 miles on it and take a bath financially just to satisfy what others think I should have. I'm within the limits just as I am with GVWR and GCVWR and Payload rating and any other rating I can find that would apply. I just don't have a lot of wiggle room on the payload allowance (1486 pounds). Do I care? No. Not one bit. It's just my wife and me and although we aren't skinny minny's, we are a whopping 320 pounds combined weight. Will I be careful and drive smart? Of Course. Will I avoid putting a 1,000 pounds in the bed of my truck? Of Course I will. But this is our first camper and our first year in this lifestyle. I came to this site to ask questions and learn and go from being a complete novice to a person with enough knowledge to go camping without looking like an idiot. If I did exactly what some on this site have said I should, I wouldn't have the funds to do it at all or a camper that I don't like and doesn't fit the needs of my wife and me. I just hope that when the weather here in New York warms up enough to actually go camping that the people I meet are nice and fun to be around and don't chastise me for the camper we chose and the truck we have to tow it with like what I've found to be the case from some on this site. If that ends up being the case, then I'll end up selling the trailer and keeping the truck and find another way to have a good time.
