I went off on a tangent on this, but what I am trying to get at is not everyone can affored a big booty truck to tow a camper. People want to be able to enjoy the outdoors and camp. Aometimes I feel that some people try to make RVing a lifestyle for the people who only have deep pockets. I got what I could currently afford. I wanted to do this because my GFs daughter is growing older everyday and I don't want her to miss out on this.
Sometimes, I think we are too harsh to newbies. I have seen newbies on forums ask a question, get ridiculed and put down, and never come back.
The******I got on my first post, I took some of it and that was part of my decision to downsize. I didn't let the negativity get to me. We railroaders have thick skin. (By the way, you cant say cap with an r in it without getting sensored?)
I wasnt going to respond until i read this. I got hammered on my setup, and when they were done hammering on me, they started making fun of my typing or grammar. I have been on and off this site for awhile so it kind of just slid off, but i can see why new people wouldnt want to sign up to this site.
What really gets me, since we are being honest. There are guys that are dead set that you can not do any modifications to increase your towing capacity. Nothing. Now, i get that the numbers will never change, but if your saying you cant add airbags, bigger brakes, or different gearing and it wont increase your load carrying capability, i just dont buy it.... These same people will hop on a thread where a guy adds a 3rd axle to his truck and they start talking about how much more they can tow now. That goes directly against what they are preaching about in the first place.
Anyways, very informative site. Just watch those weight police.
I know just how you feel, it wouldn't matter to some people on this forum if you were building up your equipment from the ground up and your budget is X, there's going to someone here that will tell you it wont work, your's and mine whole reason to buy this over priced equipment is to enjoy the camping experience a little better than what the tent camping has to offer. I have run into the same type of people at the RV parks that I have stayed at before, at the time the equipment I had was all I could afford and boy did "they" snub their nose's at us, it took a while to figure out who "they" were, they were the people that sold the stick and brick house and bought the $250K motorhome, and can't be seen talking to the like's of us, the nicest people I have met in the $250K motorhome range are the one's that started out with a tent and a truck and worked their way up, so if you think it can be bad here, wait till you meet the type A out there, avoid they and come over to my spot, oh and BTW I still have the tent
