I am much more aware of weights now, than I was in earlier years. When I started pulling a TT back in the 80s, I was more concerned where I was going to put everything, than I was about weight.
I would fill the 8' bed with 3 motorcycles, one road bike, and two dirtbikes facing rearward. I would fill in around them with whatever else could be hauled in the open. Now with the rear end of my 1/2 ton hanging down, I'd hook up the 20' TT. Hey I did have a WD hitch!!
I did just travel flat state hiway, before reaching my 10 day or so vacation campground. I always had a new truck, so managed to get by, with no break downs.
I think many old timers on this forum, could tell similar stories, of the times they towed way over weight. I try to answer in a friendly tone, when someone asks if this truck will pull this trailer. I don't judge anyone, or say you can't be a few lbs overweight. Now days the trucks all have safety labels that detail the weight cap. The driver has to make the decision, if he will stay under all ratings, most of them, etc.
If a poster does not understand how the ratings work, and are asking, I'll try to help in the same tone, as if we were talking face to face.
I don't make fun of anyones spelling, or grammar. The forum is not an english class. I do have to chuckle sometimes, but my typing, and spelling is not perfect either.
I hope everyone enjoys their RVing experience!
