We live in the internet age. I love all types of forums. I've learned so much researching products that I plan on purchasing/using. Sometimes you get good advice and sometimes bad. I think we all have discernment to weed through the opinions. And why would I get offended by someone’s opinion? I asked for it. It wasn’t unsolicited! It’s my choice to reach out and ask for these opinions. There are folks that have more knowledge than I do, there are some that have less. But when I show up to purchase item X, I’m armed!
When I purchased my current hybrid TT (that weighs less than 5K) I already had a “truck”, that’s all I needed, right :). Then based on research like above, I added a rearview camera, tow mirrors, brake controller, WDH, etc. I’m sure I would have been fine without those, but they helped.
Now that we want to upsize, I live on RVing forums. I ask, I receive, I evaluate. I’m sure some have some sort of weird motive for giving me advice. But 99.9% of the time I’ve gotten someone’s honest opinion. It’s up to me to take it or leave it. I am blessed to be able to afford the truck that I got (again researched saved me $10k), but within my limits I want to do the same with a new RV. As much as some lean toward bashing the “weight police”, I would rather trust them then the VERY unknowledgeable RV sales staff I have run into. And I used to think car salesmen were clueless. To all that have helped me on this forum, thanks!
