- tenbearExplorerWhen I can't use it, for any reason, I'll replace it. I sanitize the hoses each spring when I sanitize the water tank.
- Monaco_MontclaiExplorerWell when I change the water in the fresh tank, I put a teaspoon , or so off bleach in the hose and filler up. Works for us .and now it's all. Happy -camping
- relaxinExplorerif you really want to be safe,,,, within 10 minutes after you take it out of the package.
reality, it depends on its use, storage, water condition, temp and uv exposure, and the type and quality of material its made from,, will all effect its breakdown.
if it looks not to good retire it to the lawn sprinkler duty and buy a new one. strickly a judgement call.
mine gets used maybe,,, maybe 0nce or twice a year,, it gets sanitized every spring incase I need it, its 10 or more years old and still looks like new, has not spent much more than a month actually hooked up total - westendExplorer

WoodGlue - down_homeExplorer IIReplace? Huuuuuum. I just buy another and throw the old one in the bay.
Got quite a few older hoses ...waiting for the shortage I guess.
Could I be a hoarder?
We have a couple of nice stainless end hoses that don't look like they will wear out but they are 25 ft. Rarely need one over ten ft.
Biggest concern is contamination and bacterial growth. Amazed at the bad water around the Country.
Guess I'll donate the bunch of hoses. Don't need them. Replacing once per season seems good idea. Bleach in the hose and connect the ends: we do that but it corrodes the metal hose ends and does nothing for water taste. - Jim_ShoeExplorerI use a white hose for hookups in CGs and use the water for showers, washing dishes, and bathroom. I buy gallon jugs of distilled water for coffee and cooking. Sometimes the potable water at a CG has an "off" taste. OK to drink, but it just doesn't taste good.
- gboppExplorerI have a couple that are six years old, no leaks or problems.
I do flush them out well before they are connected to the RV. - HappyKayakersExplorer IIIA couple of times a year, I'll fill my FW hose with bleach water and connect the ends so it can slosh around while driving to the next place. That keeps the inside clean.
As holes appear in the hose, if it's close enough to an end, I'll just cut off part of the hose and put a hose mender on. When the hose gets too short, I'll buy a new one. - korbeExplorerI would continue to use mine until it either wears out or we begin to get the hose taste.
