Preventing issues with vacuum toilet system

After talking to a fellow full timer the other day, he mentioned that he had a calcium build up (apparently from water used at several campgrounds over time) on his toilet "ball valve". We have a 2016 Bounder with the Dometic/Sealand vacuum toilet system, and I am wondering if CLR would be ok to use to help prevent this build up. Of course not to be used after/with each flush, but periodically.

  • I have no idea if CLR will work but we have been fulltiming in our Bounder with the vacu-flush system for 20 months and have not seen any problem with calcium build up. We have been in quite a few area with very hard water and that, so far, hasn't been an issue. In the owners manual it requests that you use detergent, which we do occasionally, but we haven't used anything else.
