Pro Series Hitch

Is anyone familiar with the pro series 5th wheel hitches that etrailer sells? They told me they are made by the same company as Reese. The sliding dual jaw 16k is only $605. Seems like a good price but I wasn't sure if they are any good?

  • I've checked around and the b&w slider is about 2200 installed. That's just too much to pay for a hitch otherwise I would.
  • Get a B&W under bed mount with the new 20K companion. You will never regret it. Do some reading on this forum about them , you will find nothing but happy campers. it's not the cheapest but is the best built. If you need a slider, they have that too.
  • The pro series is a narrower hitch than the select series. I would go with the lock jaw over the slide bar. I have had both and the slide bar gave me chucking were the lock jaw gives me none. I don't see any problems with the pro series.

Thanks. They look to be a little over $100 cheaper than the reese. I'm planning on getting a trailer with a GVW of 15,500lbs. Don't want to cheap out though and have it break.

Have you considered going with a 20k hitch to give you some leeway?

  • I would say they are a little bit less heavy duty than the more expensive Reese. I have a 15k Pro Series sliding jaw fore/aft slider hitch and have towed a 12kfifth wheel for 4 years without problems. It is a very simple hitch with very little that can go wrong with it.
It is easy to hitch and rides well with no clunking. Very tight.
