Of all the years I drive back into the state, the same state bad attitude Omaha likely gets most of his produce from, I have never ever been stopped long enough for the tires to quit spinning. This on I-5, I-15, I-40, I-10 ,I-8, and a mix of other crossings. Not once.

What i hate is every thread that starts with california, it ends with a regulation here, an inspection there, cant stop on this road, cant protect yourself, cant do this, cant do that. Im sure its beautiful, however for me and my money, I'll choose to travel to a state where i can actually do something that i want to do without having to aske permission first.

You californians, please stay there and keep your corrupt regulations away from my state, and in return, we wont waste our money on yours.

The only things I have been asked about in traveling through for the last 8 years has been citrus and fire wood.

It seems the inspections are mainly for large quantity being brought in not for an apple or an orange.

We have been asked though if we had any live houseplants. I can see a problem for new types of bugs or invasive species of plants being brought in as it is an agricultural state. The U.S. has many types of invasive species brought in to control pests and certain pest brought in to control other pests and they only made a bigger problem in the long run.

I sometimes wonder if the border inspections are just a way to force travelers to buy the fruits and vegetables in CA or if they really help keep the bad stuff out of the state.

Same goes for NY also, mention that you are from NY, & the first thing out of their mouths is how is Broadway, I really can't say as I've never been to Broadway & only ever been to NY City twice, & then only to Grand Central Staion.

I moved here in '78, we had the best schools, best highway system, best growing biotech/pharma community, decent wages, reasonable property taxes, fair civil rights and a governor named Brown. Now we have (almost) the worst schools, crumbling highway system, collapsing economy, dropping wages, new fees for everything imaginable, far fewer civil rights, and...wait for it... again, a governor named Brown whose public service union allowance the first time around gave us what we've got now. Some of us stay here to finish our kid's education and tell the story as a warning to other states visitors... :)

the 199 station is closed a lot of the time.

Well if it were so important to stop the transport of a couple apples and oranges it would open all the time!
