- LamanExplorerJust to add this point, a couple of weeks ago I ordered new motor's for each of my Fantastic Fans and during the ordering process I was asked if the lids were ok because if not the lids have a lifetime warranty. So if you are having problems with FF lids give them a call.

Easy as pie to get,I don't go anywhere to get stuff when you can get it delivered free to the house at the same cost 303 - RAS43Explorer III303 has been the best for me but I agree, hard to find close to home. I did find Meguires wipes at Walmart and used them today on the dash and doors of my truck. Looks good and easy to apply. May have a new favorite.
- RaftenExplorer303is hard to come by here without driving 40 mies so I have used a Pe Boys product but I don' t have any opinion on it yet.

Just don't worry about them and when they crack 10 yrs from now, spend $20 on new ones.
Will be cheaper than the time and materials to "maintain" the vent covers.
IMHO Not cheaper than getting quality ones in the first place that will last longer than ten years without maintenance. Mine have 2 more years to reach 10. Not brittle yet.
This type of unit should not be disposable. - Grit_dogNavigatorJust don't worry about them and when they crack 10 yrs from now, spend $20 on new ones.
Will be cheaper than the time and materials to "maintain" the vent covers. - sowegoExplorerYou can put a vented cover over them as other spoke of. But the cheaper ones will still get brittle in time from the temps changes. The absolute best thing is to install Fantastic Fan units! They are guaranteeded and will last! In our 2002 we had one Fantastic Fan but ended up with 2 cheapos...we had a bad hail storm a few years ago...the hail smashed the cheap ones to tiny pieces but the Fantastic Fan unit didn't even get a dent, crack or scratch. After 12 years...it's still great. The other two --replaced with FF units! You can still put the Maxx air covers over the FF also as other have said, so rain won't come in when it's open.
- JiminDenverExplorer IIHail took out our vent lids so we replaced them both and added Maxx air covers. Neither was hard to do, the lids took a few minutes each. The Maxx air need four holes each drilled into the vent base, not the roof. So no sealants, etc. are needed.

I recommend vent covers such as Maxx Air. You can leave the vents open during a rain storm and drive with the vents open. I agree with previous poster though....even the cheapest rv isn't cheap and they still come with cheap vents.
X5 or so, nice to not worry about rain coming with vent open!!

They also seem to be hail resistant to a certain extent. - westendExplorerI scavenged this polycarbonate dome from a friend. I made the skirts and glued them to the dome. Hopefully, this 1/4" polycarbonate will last a few years. I would bet that the same could be ordered from a plastics shop.
