When I'm away from the camper during the day, I shut off the water. As a full timer, I've seen unoccupied campers literally flooded due to a break in the plumbing. While relatively uncommon, it's ugly. Only takes a minute to turn off the water when I leave for the day and on when I return.
Full timer here too and I have seen 4 RV's so far with water flowing out from them. Watched my own MH look like Niagara Falls when my hot water heater malfunctioned and even with all that water pouring 'down' the side of the MH above the hot water heater was so hot it could have started the side of the MH on fire. But I was there to catch it. I NEVER leave the HWH on when I leave the RV. Thank God I don't!
And I never... never hook-up my fresh water hose before sanitizing the hose bib.:)
Hmmm, You must have seen the campers that let their dogs pee on the spigots too! I bought this sign and stick it in front of my water spigot for the idiots that let their dogs pee on it even when I am hooked up to it! So far those that can read do pull there dog in when walking past my site. :B
