Questins re power awaning

ok here's a few for today :)

1) if no heavy wind etc do you leave the awning out all night ?

2) I see the knobs on the arms to tighten it...do you always tighten these ?

3) I see some people tip theres to force rain to run off one corner...do you just tighten one side then pull down on the corner you want the rain to run off then tighten that knob ?

Thank you
  • Guess it depends on type of awning ,,,,,,, W/O tighten knobs on our manual awning the full tension of roller springs is dependent on locking pawl not failing

Plus awing material isn't tight w/o tension from arms and locked
  • I do not always roll mine up at night, but do when we go away, when I remember...

I rarely tighten the knobs except when I want to lower one side to direct rain water to that side.

In my case the knobs are too high to reach without a ladder even though I’m 6’2”. I see no reason to tighten the knobs under normal conditions.
  • Never left out at bed time or if we leave the camper. (also turn shore water off)
    Almost never tighten knobs.
If knobs are loose, the awning will "auto dump" water.

If we need to make the water run off one way or the other, I will pull that end down slightly and tighten that knob only.
  • I pull the awning back in if there are bad storms--heavy rain and wind. If the forecast is iffy and we are going to be gone, then I will retract it too but it does not happen too often...many times we are not far away from the campsite.

2> No..I usually leave them loose so they will dump like they are designed to do.

3> yes...if I want to direct the water to one side or the other. The rain dump feature works great on mine.
  • We are the same as Biscuit on 2 and 3, but we do sometimes leave ours out overnight. It takes pretty good winds for it to really be a problem. If we are on a weekend trip and want to hang our awning lights, we check the weather in advance. If it is supposed to be calm, we will put them on and leave them out. If there is any question of the weather, we skip it and pull them in at night.
  • 1) NO...awning gets retracted AT Night or if going somewhere. Wind came come up FAST and I am NOT going to deal with after going to bed or come back to camp site and find it over the top of roof destroyed

It only takes 2 minutes to put it away :S

    2) YES

    3) YES
