- stickdogExplorerIt depends on the department, National Parks tend to require 32 hours per person, most not all FWS require 24 per person or 32 for singles. Forest Service varies as does USACE. Best to contact the VC and get the requirements of the position.
- afrescopXxExplorerYou need to contact the location via the contact person listed in the advertisement. Usually the requirement is the number of hours per couple in exchange for the RV spot. Some places do require 32 hours per person.
We have volunteered four of the past five years at a Texas State Park requiring 24 hours per couple for the spot. We worked 12 hours each in three four hour shifts together.
Check it out carefully before applying or accepting a position to eliminate any hard feelings in advance. - nbargolfExplorerjust curious what's to keep a couple from only one person volunteering and the other just stays there?

Just wondering.../all years at same park or different parks? Guess what I'm asking is if that is representative hours of most Texas state parks? - Texas_Two_SteppExplorerWe've volunteered at three national parks and we worked as a couple, thirty-two hours each a week.

Again it is up to the agency. Many parks don't care who donates the required hours. Florida state parks and COE parks, in general.
Some require all "residents" of a camper to work. Fish and wildlife positions.
It is usually listed in the job opening announcement.
In our case, I am disabled and contribute less hours per month than my wife. Had a surgery last year and for that week I was recovering, my wife did all our hours.
Best thing to do is call the park you are interested in working at. - nancyjerryExplorerThis winter we are volunteering in N.C. Through the same website as OP. They want 1 person to work 32 hours. The other person can volunteer for more hours or do nothing. You can't switch workers either.
That's a first for us, so as others said....ask them. - afrescopXxExplorer

We have volunteered at two Texas parks on the same lake. One park did not permit us to work together. For the past three years we were at the "sister" park and did work three, four hour shifts together.
To work 32 hours per person is like working full time to us. - DtslingerExplorerThanks for the answer.
