I have been interested in using quick connects on my RV water inlets for a while now, but was always stopped by the fact that the new inlet would be wide open for anything to crawl into my fresh water tank.I found the answer today, I'm using 1/2" Bailer Plugs with Cam-Action Levers. Insert the plug into the end of the quick connect and flip the level, works great!I now have 3 quick connect inlets on my city water, fresh water tank, and black flush line.I have a white fresh water hose with quick connects on each end and a green flush hose with quick connects. I also carry an extra quick connect to place on the city water source when I get to the campsite.

Great idea, the same thought had been keeping me form going to QD's.

I've been using QD for years. One stays permanently on the trailer hose connection. I've never worried about anything crawling in, there are already two vent lines that are always open.

That's A great idea, Mine QC are a little different. I just bought some plastic plugs from Lowes that slip over the nipple. They are held firm by the o ring. I also attached lanyards to them to prevent loss. On my hoses, I just connect the inlet to the outlet after I roll it up. I reverse my fittings so I don't inadvertently attach my tank rinse hose to the wrong outlet on my Y connector or potable water connection.

My inlet QD has a check valve built in. Not likely any critters would get past it. A quick glance when hooking up shows if anything is sitting in opening.

The main reason most use a quick connect is the difficulty of attaching the hose to the RV. I have always removed the hose part from the hose and inserted it into the RV part. That way, your existing plug can be used to seal the opening and the hose ends can be connected to each other for storage.

I have had poor results with the cheap plastic ones. Don't want to try anymore.

I've used them at home for a number of years now. I have issues with the ones that have the rubber grips on them and have been replacing those with the all brass. Either the rubber grip part starts to slip, meaning you can't remove them, or the faucet bib goes in too deep on the female end stopping the male quick connect from seating correctly. No problem with the all brass setups.

The all plastic ones work but don't last very long, at least not in home use. They start to leak, probably the O ring on the male connector. I didn't try replacing the O ring. Got maybe 4 or 5 years out of them.

I use them until I need to take one off from the FW side it was impossible .I got to replace the whole connector .No more quick disconnect for me.

I have used them for years. Look for the brass ones not just the cheaper brass colored aluminum ones.
