Rain X. Sp

Watched a fellow spraying his camper with a back back sprayer

Said he was using rain x like you apply to car windshields,

But was for exterior, anyone else tried it heard of it or thoughts.
Claimed the water would bead off it like windshield
  • All I know is that Rain-X out of the car wash does help with water beading, so it does that, at the very least.
  • So what we have here is a request to comment on a product that as far as I can tell isn't manufactured "Rain x" and attempts to comment that clearly show that the assumed mfr of this "Rain x" makes a number of different use products. So maybe if the OP instead of describing the product as coming out of a "back back sprayer", which means absolutely nothing to me, the OP could go back and actually find out what was being used and clarify the question Maybe then comments would be more on point??
  • Yep. At one time "Rain-X" was a single product, a hydrophobic polymer dissolved in alcohol/acetone/acid.

Nowadays, Rain-X is a brand, with a wide range of products. But, if it's not specifically stated, to me "Rain-X" refers to the original, in the yellow bottle. Been using it for almost 40 years.
  • Well sounds like a few more readers an posters are going to help me decide thanks to those of u
    Who posted
  • No but I did use Zep wet look floor polish on my 2002, 0xidized Class C and it proved to be the only product out of 5 or 6 that actually put on a nice shine. However, it took a thorough cleaning and many coats. Nothing else made any difference at all.

Yup. And that original product was definitely harmful to paint and plastic. I put it on the headlights of my '92 Dakota. Ruined them quite quickly.

I not so fondly remember asking my wife to pick some up from the store several years ago. After trying for an hour to get the desired results, I finally noticed it was not the original product.
