hi allwe are ready to buy a 5th wheeler and for this reason we need to change truck as our 2009 avalanche can only tow a TT We went and shop for this truck for nearly a month. we are nearly ready to pull the triggerWe went from 3/4 Ton to 1 Ton SRW and are not quite ready to go with a 1 Ton DRW 4x4 Our favorite is the RAM Laramie Longhorn Mega cab for its interior and the room of a mega cabour concern is the problem that we could have with a 5th wheel (bed only 6' 4")the engine noise and the rough rideThen we have the ford King Ranch which is a much quieter engine and a smoother rideThen the Chevy.the problem with the chevy is that the interior is the least appealing.Not to say that it is exactly the same than our Avalanche 2009 and having this truck for 4 1/2 years.we like the idea of something newalso the interior is the smallestall will depend of price and on that the chevy has a big advantage so far. GM incentive is huge as the 2015 is just a few weeks away.Some will say wait for the new chevy but this is a bet than I am not ready to take.I am not sure I will pay the same amount in 2 months than now especially as they should be way easier to sell.Also Having already bought more than 20 cars I know by experience that January February are normally the best price you can get from dealer.

I'm sure your post will ignite a firestorm of comments. My $.02 - I switched from being a lifelong Chevy owner to a 2013 Ford F350 6.7 diesel SRW last year. After one year of ownership, I'm very satisified with my choice.

If I were to get a new vehicle right now, it would be the Ram 3500 SRW Laramie Longhorn Mega cab with the short bed and the Cummins diesel engine. My friend right across the street from me right now has one and pulls his Big Horn 5th wheel effortlessy with his. Beautiful truck, great interior, the ride is excellent and the engine is reliable, smooth, and quiet.The only problem is my present truck is still running perfectly, and still looks like new after 250,000+ miles, and I am not ready to let it go yet! :)Barney

forgot to mention that the version I am ready to buy is the 370HP/800LB-FT not the 385/850 high output version

The one YOU like best. Any one of them will tow the trailer fine.

Choose the one that fits your butt the best. After that, minor differences, as many will say, ALL have the power, braking and engine to pull what ever you want. Some like Barney are still happy with motors that are half the hp/torque of todays motors. My 175/330 non turbo in my navistar dump truck does what I need it to do......If you like the look, buy it!marty

I came with pretty much the same conclusion and bought a F350 dually diesel

The new GM trucks are really going to be nice. If I wasn't brand loyal I would consider the Ram for sure, that is one nice looking truck. My 08 is the best truck I have ever owned, it is still perfect and only used to tow. I will be looking to buy as soon as the 15 Silverados start hitting the lots. I am going to keep my current truck, it's to good to sell or trade.

If you choose Ram, I'd get the Crew cab 3500 for increased payload. Have you seen the 2015 GM twins? Might be worth waiting for the upgraded interior.

One thing I have read a lot about on here is how much less payload the megacabs have compared to the crew cabs due to their length. May not be that way any more, but might be worth checking out.

All of the big 3 make great HD trucks. It is just a matter of preference.I do like my Cummins though!

Buy the one that feels the best and you can get the best value out of. They will all do the job just fine.

We have a 3500 dually Ram mega cab with the cummings dsl 4 whl drive 4:10 rear axle. Truck rides better than my old 3/4 ton and the mega cab is totally awesome. Ours is a Laramie so the longhorn has a few more goodys but they are and awesome truck I wouldn't trade it for any other model. It will pull anything is rock solid going down the road but it does like fuel but I knew that going in. Good luck with your choice.
