EXACTLY why I use the fresh water tank, using city water ONLY to refill the tank.
Not sure how this would have helped. If the OP couldn't hear the water running, chances are they would not have heard the water pump either.
The difference between a finite amount of water and unlimited.
The fresh tank is usually the same size as the grey, so it would have just filled the grey tank and then worst case burnt up the pump.
