RCman, 2stroked doesn't have a 6-spd trans and neither will a 2005-2006 HD. Simply dropping one lower gear changes the engine speed more than what he wants, or the gear spacing does not allow the engine to stay in it's peak powerband,
2stroked, I highly recommend getting something new enough for a 6-spd trans. That means a 2007.5+ GM HD or 2009+ half ton 5.3L. GM never offered the 6-spd with 4.8L. That will offer far more performance than going to an older 4-spd + 6.0L. I do not recommend spending $2k on your current truck. You'll never get that money back.
Check out some comparisons of the GM 4-spd you currently have to the 6-spd.
