Pretty much all the old "picture tube" display rear RV cameras had a microphone on the camera so you could hear your rear spotter giving directions (usually all you need is to hear them, they don't need your input). Was much more convenient than having to juggle a walkie talkie as you are trying to back up your rig. I have not seen any newer RV camera systems with that feature. Has anyone come up with a mike and small amp that accomplishes this simple task?

If the driver doesn't need to input anything, then a 'walkie talkie' would work fine, wouldn't it? Its only when the driver needs to speak that something like Bluetooth would be helpful. You could do that with 2 cells phones + Bluetooth on the vehicle as long as you can hit a tower.

Aircraft carriers are noisy and the yellow shirts use arm and hand comands to guide the aircraft, so I taught the wife some basic arm and hand comands and we do not need to shout, she also does not stand behind the RV but makes sure that she can see me on one of the side mirrors, and she is always visible to me and I make sure that she is inside the RV when we cat launch out of the camping spot, LOL.navegator

Visual signals are safest. Used to work with a lot of military and other large vehicles. Always told my spotters I would not move if I couldn’t see them. Tell my wife the same thing but I add that I’m too **** old to start over with a new one unless she knows of a hot younger woman who is into older men. She didn’t apppreciate the humor, but she finally got the point after a few reminders. I put the flashers on if I can’t see her to remind her.

I also tell them that if they can't look at the mirror and see me then I probably can't see them.

That's exactly what I do, but having a spotter and/or assisting devices never hurts.

Well, ok Rarely hurts but that is dependent on the quality of the spotter.

I can back the "C" RV into any spot in one motion as well as the ladder truck into a complettlly dark fire station, wife likes to participate in the adventure so having her do signals in a profesional looking manner impresses the looky loos a lot, by this time I have done a thorough walk of the site looking for holes or roots, obstructions and avove all low hanging branches, if it is a campground I look for obstructipns and then back in with the wife doing the yellow shirt work and then the LSO moment and we have the 3rd hooked.

as one of those trained 18 wheeler drivers. i do not trust anybody when backing up. ---they do not get penalized if a oops happens.---
and so many of then just wiggle the fingers in front of there faces, so they are not visible to me at all.
even while using the 4 way flashers, fools keep trying to drive behind me, and then a woman walking/pushing a stroller behind me, (this is while i am rolling backward, light flashing and beeper on).
best way is always look at where you are trying to back into, use reference marks. and as the board of dictators found out for a "nifty" saying G.O.A.L. aka get out and look.
take the extra couple minute's and be safe.
if you do use a spotter, use only one you can trust. and make sure they know the correct hand/arm signals you know.
do not forget to look for low branches.

Get Out and Look is excellent advice! I do it often and have found myself surprised a few times about where my clearance was and wasn’t. Also gives you a second to take a breath and de-stress.

Also a good point about trusting your spotter. I absolutely don’t trust my wife. In other ways, yes, but she couldn’t back a trailer to save her life. I tell her that I want her to warn me if I’m going to hit something. I wish she’d stick to that. She tries to help, so I try to be patient.
