Rear Camera??

I would like some information about the preferences for back up camera's. My need is to put a camera on the rear of my 5th wheel and obviously the monitor in the cab. I will not be removing the camera from the rear of the trailer for any other use.

Knowing there are several different setups out there was wondering what the preferred types were.

Thanks for your info.
  • Check E-Bay. It might be better to get a 3 camera system and cover some of the blind spots.
  • As stated above. That is an exceptional deal on a back-up system & the reviews are outstanding. I wouldn't hesitate a moment on this one !!!!

This is the one I installed on my class C. Good picture, surprisingly good night vision, has audio, can add multiple cameras and comes with 60' of cord for the camera. I'm very happy with it.
  • I recently did some research on google and found a plethora of info. Bottom line for me is color, graph bars showing distances, good field of view, some type of reverse lighting like LEDs, and a camera that reverses the view so it looks like your backup mirror. You can get types that have a separate screen or show the image in a rear view mirror like some OEM vehicles. I suggest you do your own research and find the best type for you.
  • I got an inexpensive wireless backup camera by Peak that has a rear view mirror monitor. It is OK for the price, but I do get dropouts in signals when passing things like traffic counters and other wireless cameras. And it is not viewable in bright sunlight. So you can spend anywhere from $100 to $1,000 for one of these things. But you get what you pay for.
