My last RV had the furnace on the passenger side under the awning. It was actually kinda nice, since the only time you run the furnace is when it's cold, and that provided an outdoor "hand warmer"!!! WH doesn't exhaust much heat at all. My current RV has the furnace in the rear; I actually miss the "hand warmer".
BTW, I have my kitchen (sink, stove, oven, microwave) in a slide (driver side), and haven't had any issues with it. I believe that very question was asked here (or perhaps on another site), and very few if any people reported problems with kitchen slide components (water, drain, LPG lines).
