Not a wise idea. One post I do disagree with. Dealers voiding warrantee if they find red fuel is questionable. Red fuel is exactly the same as regular #2 diesel with the exception there is red dye in it. It has NO effect mechanically on a engine. If you had a separate fuel tank for your diesel generator you could legally use red fuel in it.

You may disagree - but the dealer info is absolutely correct.
A friend drove his new Chevy Diesel (ULSD req'd) way down into Baja.
No ULSD available - so figured what can a tank or two (or three) hurt?
Went into limp mode. Towed the truck to Cabo. No help, since they don't sell them - no equipment.
Towed about 1K miles back to a Chevy dealer in San Diego.
Dealer immediately voided the warranty.
He became his own "warranty station" - paying for repairs.
BTW - that's the same for folks adding modifications to diesel pickups (chips, and other after market equipment).
Dealers will void warranty.
If you think your pockets are deeper than theirs - take 'em to court for violating the Magnuson Moss Act.
Knowledgeable folks know the consequences.
You want to play - you have to pay..:W
IMO - Red dye fuel is ULSD now - and same as road fuel, with the exception of the dye.
Also - the city I was employed by, fueled *ALL* of it's diesel powered fire apparatus with "normal" road diesel fuel.
There were no other vehicles using the supply tanks.
Mechanics did not feel red dye fuel was refined to the same standard as road fuel (was *not* ULSD then) - and not worth the bother.
Most large FDs now just carry a credit card and fuel at a local service station in their immediate area.
As someone else indicated - *if* tax rebate is/was due, just send in the use records..:B
