Update.
I am not one who ever shrinks from a necessary confrontation and I thoroughly believe in standing up for my "rights and privileges".
The Manager is well aware of these folks attitude and like I said in my original post he told them if they didnt like the boundaries they could leave.
But upon reflection I decided that if the opportunity presented itself I would talk to the man. The Wife is the real arguer.
So this morning I heard my little dog start barking furiously and looked out my window to see the gentleman in my part of the garden again.
I went out introduced myself and told him that I try myself to be a good neighbor and respect peoples site boundaries and I hope that he would do the same. I added that I felt it would have been the polite thing to do for him to come to me and tell me what he wanted to do and explain...not just assume. I felt his actions a bit intrusive.
He immediately wanted to start arguing the issue with me and I held up my hand and said I was not interested in engaging that conversation. That what he had done so far was fine with me but that he should have checked with me first.
Then he asked if he had to check with me every morning when he comes to fill the bird feeder... "No certainly not" I said
I stood and listened to his story about how this area the gardens were public spaces. How he fertilized the plants etc. So I asked him "Tell me where does the PUBLIC and PRIVATE space here begin and end"...he of course could not answer.
I did warn him that if he came to far into the site my smaller dog who is very protective of his area might present a problem.
He was not happy with me although I was exceedingly polite throughout.
When we returned this afternoon from our errands we found a note taped to our door from his wife indicating she wanted to talk to me.
They were gone at the time. So I dictated a note that said: " If this conversation is about the site issue then I have made my feelings clear to your husband. If you have any further concerns please take them up with the manager. Have a nice day and a pleasant stay here in xxxxx. Best Regards."
This way if they do go to the manager he will be really fed up with them beating this drum and will know all about it. I remain above the fray.
It's all Quiet on the Western Front...
So... just like I expected. These people enjoy arguing and, in the end, your discussion didn't seem to yield any results.
Have you had a chance to talk to the managers about it?
