Pretty easy to suggest that the violated party isn't standing up for his rights when you are a safe distance away. Personally I think he is to be applauded for his self control. Admittedly that is a 'do as I say not as I do'. Unfortunately I've had a few experiences where fellow RV'ers crossed a line I couldn't abide by. I'm really working towards not confronting offenders myself ever again, but it is very definitely not my personality. In a situation about 2 years ago, after the third night of security at Pechanga RV in Temecula ignoring very loud music way after the inception of quiet hours, I waited until the next day to confront the offender. Tried to be as calm as possible, but another RV'er who witnessed it (he himself had talked to them the night before to no avail) suggested that for a seemingly nice guy I could sure come across as something quite different. They were very quiet from that point on, but I spent the rest of the time there worrying about damage being done to our rig when we were gone. Not to mention, the next time we were at Pechanga, they were a few sites down from us. One of them pointed me out as we were setting up. About two weeks ago at Premier RV in Redding had a group of construction workers who pushed the limits, but never quiet broke the rules. These guys I suspected would retaliate. Or try to escalate it into a fistfight. (Probably should mention I used to teach martial arts.). The only fight you ever truly win is the one you don't have, so I did my best to ignore their occasional outbursts. When they finally left, they starting idling the diesel at 4am and left about 45 minutes later. They made all kinds of noise!
People that do these types of things do them because they get away with them. I certainly used to be the 'sheepdog'. I'll never be a sheep. But there are crazies out there. I am trying to be the guy who either asks for another distant site, or leaves the facility requesting a refund. Hasn't happened yet. And I always calmly make sure management knows my displeasure. Pechanga just gave me the verbal runaround. Premier was very concerned - gave me their private cell phone number & promised to keep an eye out.
Ultimately it comes done to this. Do I want to still be dealing with whatever comes out of my response to their stupidity years from now with the judicial system?
