stumbled across this and since I was on the RV when it burnt down I thought I'd reply.
Our '94 Monaco Dynasty was completely engulfed in flames in less than 5 minutes.
At about 7 minutes the flames burst through windshield. There were strong winds that day which sped up the destruction.
Thankfully all of us were safe. We did lose everything except what were were wearing and the cameras in our hands. We debated wether or not to include the fire in the episode but it was such a pivotal moment in the trip. All 5 of us really took stock of what was important in our lives. The belongings were nice but it was the people in our lives that really mattered. Hopefully others could learn from that as well as to keep going even when trials come your way. We continued the roadtrip in a older Safari that is in our fleet. We had 5 more weeks on the road and it was one of the best summers of my life.
It was a sad end to a great RV. We racked over 205k miles over many years roadtripping around the US filming the public television show.
