ROOF CLEANING AND TREATING

I have a rubber roof and try to keep it nice and clean to reduce black streaks. I have been told that the product "Mop and Glow" does a good job of cleaning and coating the roof. Has anybody tried this and if so, how well does it word? I would also like any other recommendations or suggestions. I hate to pay the price for CW roof cleaner. It doesn't work that well anyway.

  • Use Spic&Span here also...medium bristle brush and it gets clean....just did mine this last weekend.
  • I contacted Thor regarding how to maintain my rubber roof. Their response was to wash it once or twice a year using Spic and Span (I use Dawn) with a soft bristled brush. They DID NOT suggest and conditioners. They did say to check the caulking and sealants around all protrusions.

I have used Mop & Glo on the badly oxidized end caps of my MH and after 18 months still looks great. I would NOT put it on my roof.
  • Check the ingredients and I bet you'll find petroleum distillates as one of them. Nearly ALL wax products have them. ALL manufacturers of EPDM rubber roofing advise nOT to use any product with petroleum distillates because it penetrates the membrane and dissolves the glue holding the roof to the substrate.
    Good luck / Skip
  • Mop 'n' Glo is an acrylic floor coating and look great when first applied but it looks very bad after a couple of months.

Your best bet is "Wet and Forget". It inhibits mold growth and is self cleaning; every time it rains, a little washes off taking the dirt with it.
