In light of the thread titled "Oil headed for 70 bucks s barrel. Here we go." which was closed with reason listed as "I don't think I saw a single RV related post in this thread." We sure did not go far did we LOL. - tomman58Explorer

$2.829 at Sam's Club in Las Cruces today... Most others in the city are at or over $3.
I love my Sam's Plus membership when filling the 50 gallon tank on my C. Save up front, get 2% cash back at the end of the year. Think about it; that's about $2.50 back for every tank of fuel in the RV. I usually get several hundred back at the end of the year, which more than pays for the upgraded membership and a few Christmas gifts on the house.
Sorry I don't do Sam's never will BUT Costco and all stations you use on their card you get 4% for fuel. and that is even on their fuel which is normally cheaper than most others. I also auto charge most stuff on it like for electric, gas for home, med bills etc. This year cash back was %875.00 plus a Costco cash back of $185.00. Live / learn . 3% for travel and restaurants, 2% Costco, 1% for all others. - DRTDEVLExplorer$2.829 at Sam's Club in Las Cruces today... Most others in the city are at or over $3.

From your use of the term hydro, I assume you are Canadian. Y'all have been net exporters of oil for a long time and now the US is a net exporter of oil. This is great for both countries. The Middle East still is affecting the price. Only two of the top 10 oil companies are American. Country owned dominate this group. I wish we had more hydro like you do. We haven't built a hydro plant in over 30 years and existing ones are throttled back due to enviro lawsuits. Your 9 cents per kw is great. We are at 13 which is about average for America except in the natural gas pipeline starved areas.
Yah, Hydro is obviously not the solution for every region. BC Hydro is adding another big Dam (project C) right now. Probably mostly for export as for the most part we already have a surplus of power. I think cheaper power is coming for lots of regions though as coal power drops off more and more. This kind of transition takes a while though as new technologies don't get incorporated into the system overnight. Its all good.
Our power bill this time of year is about 94 bucks every two months and that includes fueling (charging) the two vehicles. But we don't drive a lot. Maybe 12000 to 16000 KM per year. We have friends who commute between cities every day that do that in 3 months...and they drive a Cadillac SUV. I think they said they were paying about 800 bucks per month in gas. Ouch. Nice SUV though and a good little trailer puller. Oh well, can't have it all. - LindsayRichardsExplorerFrom your use of the term hydro, I assume you are Canadian. - John___AngelaExplorerItn defence of the various posters here, it’s hard not to get political when talking about fuel prices. The world collectively spends about 200 billion per year keeping oil shipping lanes open. About a million people lose their lives per decade in conflicts in the Middle East mostly from oil wars which generate even more refugees. No easy answers and it sucks that the price of filling our tanks is always determined by those in another region of the world.
In other news my hydro bill went up 2 percent this year. Getting close to 9 cents per kilowatt hour. Still cheap to “fill up” our electric vehicles. Glad the only tank we have left to fill is our diesel pusher. Thinking it will be a while before that one goes electric. Besides, it sounds cool. :) - LindsayRichardsExplorerSorry, I guess I should not respond to your political rants. As I recall, you got your Volt lease at half price just before the election. They still make up only 7 of every 1,000 cars sold. As I recall your electricity is mainly from coal anyway. Gas prices are largely determined by the situation in the Middle East and OPEC.
- tomman58Explorerlindsay "The world is looking better except in the countries allowing in millions of economic refugees which contain some killers." you political rants are not needed on this board. They are misleading, generally untrue and have no bearing on gas prices.
I will aggressively search for an electric car again when I see some more come on the market. We really enjoyed our Volt but as stated they are hard to get in and out of for us.
I'll pay the price to pull my trailer but not for my daily driver. LindsayRichards wrote:
Compared to what? There are over 150,000 car fires each year in the US. Can you imagine the news if each car fire was covered same as Tesla? It would be over 400 new stories EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Telsa's keep burning up.
U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated average of 152,300 automobile fires per year in 2006-2010. These fires caused an average of 209 civilian deaths, 764 civilian injuries, and $536 million in direct property damage.
