Ever notice how the fuel prices are higher along the expressway? Snowbird prices. They are high because the market will bear it. Same with oil changes. Snowbird prices are a way of life. Has worked well for me.
that is the situation everywhere, north, south, east, west, not just snowbird. the ones beside the interstate or main highway are usually higher than others if you have the time, desire, and ability to search them out. convenience comes at a price.

- tomman58Explorercekkk glad my Volt uses gas, LOL
Snowbirds go to dealers, darn right with a 7000 dollar engine and trans under warranty darn right!
Fezziwig Canada's transcontinental hwy took till 1968 to complete. They did a lot of with conscientious objectors during WWII. Just saying. - FezziwigExplorerThe transcontinental highway system was built with general federal taxes (because it was seen as a necessity for National Defense after WW2) and gas taxes were added for maintenance financing. Then local (state and municipal) local connections were built with lots of capital from local administrations to promote development of suburbs.
Basically, if you want new roads and road expansions it's going to take tax money someplace to build them and then gas taxes to maintain them. Or, you can stay home and not go anyplace.
Incidentally, private financing of roads has never worked. For example, in the 30s when the first transcontinental highway was started, Hiway 30 the Lincoln Highway, it was planned to build it with private money from car and bicycle makers, but they could never get money together for more than one mile of roadway. - HJGyswytExplorer

Saw on yesterday's news that Washington state has a surprise for EV owners. A hundred dollar tax because they DON'T use gasoline. I'm telling you, if you don't already know it, there is not enough money in the world to sate our various governments' voracious appetites.
That hasn't happened yet, but it might. Here in Washington State we have no state income tax, just a very high sales tax, fuel tax, and property tax. So many people are driving very fuel efficient cars, and people like me who commute using no petroleum fuel are paying nothing into the system that was designed to build and upkeep our highways and roads.
We have seen proposals for mileage taxes, you would pay based on annual miles driven. While I don't like any new taxes myself, I do see a day where there will have to be another way to pay for our roads. How that will mesh with neighboring states is just another complication. Complaining about things will always get you the snowbird price.
- tomman58Explorer$3.84 central Fl for diesel.
I went through 7 Chevy dealers to find one that didn't have a mask and gun for an oil change and a fuel filter. Back in Michigan I get the oil change for 59 bucks and the fuel filter for 110. Down here the oil change ranged from 88 to 129 and the fuel filter from 110 to 190. Pretty sad as many here surely don't have much cash as jobs don't pay much. - SRTExplorerMost reporting stations are at $3.05 a gallon for gasoline. That seems to be current "floor" for prices. Diesel continues around $3.90 a gallon. Sure glad we kept on gas MH.
