It was mentioned in one of the articles that the capacity was similar to an EV or 25 to 40 miles depending on the vehicle and conditions. We are still owed over $26 BILLION directly and the total cost is estimated as when the old GM went bankrupt, the government assumed the liabilities of the pension and medical funds. There is now way to actually calculate these amounts as it is an ongoing expense. There were 4.5 dependents receiving compensation for every GM employee at the time of the bankruptcy. Estimates are around $100 BILLION. ObamaCare for example increased the age of dependents from 18 to 26. (Big Oil tax deductions you hate are $2.8 BILLION or peanuts compared to this.)
the last I heard, the GM stock would about have to double in value for us to get our money back.
bumpy - LindsayRichardsExplorerThere is not a single RV being made that has a GM gas engine anymore. It isn't just mine, it is everybodies. Try to keep up.

GM has dropped from the largest automaker in the world to number 3. The transplant US companies now manufacturer 45% of the US made vehicles. GM now has less than 60% of it's all time high US employees. 2 out of every 3 GM vehicles made is made out of the US now. These are inescapable facts you need to grasp. I own a GM engine in my coach and like it, but it has been outlawed by the EPA now.
LR again you show a lack of comprehension of the total picture but as always you give some minor facts. As for the high number of employees that has dropped every year since the advent of automation, nothing new there. Yes most of GMs car are made in North America not necessarily in the states along.
As for you engine being GM and outmoded , it fits. - LindsayRichardsExplorerIt was mentioned in one of the articles that the capacity was similar to an EV or 25 to 40 miles depending on the vehicle and conditions. - FezziwigExplorerHas anyone calculated the energy capacity of a tank of high pressure air? I don't think it's very high. Also, energy losses through adiabatic compression will be very high: the tank inlet will heat up gloriously, though.

- tomman58ExplorerLR the Volt is but a slice of the GM pie. It is a huge pie with other not so big sellers like the Corvette.
Gm is hiring one heck of a lot of people in the last year and will continue both here and in other parts of the world.
You need to get out and see the improvements to all these cars and that will give you a clue as to why folks are buying them. - LindsayRichardsExplorerGM went bankrupt, received an $85 BILLION bailout, and the "New GM" company is doing the same things that caused the bankruptcy in the first place. They have put all of their eggs in the heavily subsidized electric hybrid which by the very sluggish sales figures is being rejected by the American public. Newer technology will win out every time. They tied their future to the eclectic hybrid wagon which isn't selling. They are going to end up like Detroit, a shell of it's former self depending on the government for it's existence.
- SRTExplorerLooks like $3.35 is current price for gasoline. Wonder how long that price will last. Oil prices are still hanging around $96.xx. If the FED Chairman prints more money, the price would probably go up some more.
- tomman58Explorer"This air hybrid is being developed by one of the largest and most technological auto companies in the world." Y
Yes this is true but the name of the company that will do it is GM.
GM has taken the car along side of several others of the French and will develop and build it. What GM wants GM gets!
