Gas ended the day at $3.51 locally.
Well here in the Portland area reg is $3.69 and diesel is $3.99 back down to a 30 cent difference. I am assuming by early summer gas will be again higher than diesel. - Gale_HawkinsExplorerGas ended the day at $3.51 locally.
- LindsayRichardsExplorerGas and oil. About 3/4 acre of land is used to drill down about 8,000 to 10,000 feet down (mile of solid rock below water table). A road is built in for this. 6 or 8 wells are drilled here. At the lower level the wells go horizontal in different directions and go off for a mile or so. The layer of shale is fractured with about a million gallons of water (about what an average golf course uses in 2 weeks, sand, and chemicals frequently found under your kitchen sink. New fluids are all food grade. This process takes about 5 to 8 days. Multiple layers of pipe and cement are installed. Whole process takes about 6 weeks. Oil and gas are trucked to nearest pipeline or pipeline is placed next to road. Well is producing for 30 years with regular maintenance. Land returns to normal as only a small footprint is left. (less than an acre).
- LindsayRichardsExplorerA report by the Congressional Research Service shows that oil production on federal lands took another dip in 2012, while overall U.S. oil production has exploded due to increased production on private and state lands.
“All of the increased production from FY2007 to FY2012 took place on non-federal lands, causing the federal share of total U.S. crude oil production to fall by about seven percentage points,” according to the report. “Overall, U.S. natural gas production rose by four trillion cubic feet (tcf) or 20% since 2007, while production on federal lands (onshore and offshore) fell by about 33% and production on non-federal lands grew by 40%.”
Since 2008 oil and natural gas production on private and state lands has increased. In 2009, non-federal lands produced 3,487,800 barrels of oil per day which grew to 4,580,800 barrels per day last year. Non-federal lands produced 16,233 billion cubic feet of natural gas in 2009 and expanded to 20,242 billion cubic feet in 2012.
“Where the states have been in charge, we have seen energy development boom in a safe and responsible way, but under federal control we have seen a sharp decline in production. A web of red tape and a backlog of delayed permits are blocking important energy production opportunities on federal lands,” Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Ky.), who chairs the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power, said in a Tuesday statement. - tomman58Explorergas 3.83 and diesel 4.38 in central Fl. 20 cent spread from farm area to city.
- SRTExplorerSeems that gasoline prices are dropping as fast as they went up. One station is down to $3.68. A large number are down to $3.69, the rest are at $3.71. Diesel prices are also starting to slip down - $3.99 to $4.31. The speculators should be required to hold for 6 months before unloading the "futures". $90.45 is the oil price this morning. Of course, Ben is still printing several billions of paper money per month which is affecting the prices of oil and refined fuels. Wall Street has hit a new record high. That means when Ben stops printing we can fall faster and harder, ya think? :E
- Gale_HawkinsExplorerDiesel has slipped local. Gas/diesel $3.53/$3.79 today.
- SRTExplorerYup, prices continue their oozing downward trend. The new price is $3.71, down 3¢ a gallon. Diesel still remains around $4.00+. Oi prices are $90.87 this morning. Yesterday oil did drop to $89.XX for a while.
- Greydog_1ExplorerCrude has dropped in price during past week but in Oregon the gas pumps went up 9cents to celebrate it. What a way to run a boat.
- Gale_HawkinsExplorerToday gas/diesel was $3.53/$3.83 in two counties.
Still telling myself it is worth $5 a gallon so I am excited at the deal I am getting. :)
