- AO_hitechExplorerMinimum wage certainly use to buy much more gas. When it was $3.25 gas was just under $1 (around here). Now minimum wage is $8 and gas is just under $4. 3 1/4 gallons versus 2.1 gallons now.
- Greydog_1ExplorerNo-if working IRS for instance you got to know how to line dance to stay up to date. Requires skill and dexterity. With their pay they can buy a whole tank of gas for big RV's too.
- DelCamperExplorerI guess one must define "skill".

3 Gals gas here is about 11.67. Does unskilled labor make that much an hour?
Probably. Minimum wage is $8 here in CA. That's entry level, training wage. I'd imagine anyone who is trained is going to make 50% more. - LindsayRichardsExplorerI thought all government jobs were unskilled.

Yep, an hour of unskilled work used to buy 3 or 4 gallons of gas as it does now.
Only if the unskilled worker has a government job! ;) - Greydog_1Explorer3 Gals gas here is about 11.67. Does unskilled labor make that much an hour?

In college, I worked at an all night gas station and we got down to 19.9 once. I think he was just fighting with the guy across the street. Lots of people just got a dollar's worth. Still cleaned the windshield, checked the oil and battery. I got a whopping $1/hour, but could study between customers, and got to keep all of the tire repair work which was a lot as flats were very common back them.
:)That's what I made working at the gas station while in high school,
1 hr work would buy 5 gallons of gasoline ,
That's what most of the sales were at the station , a dollar of regular,
I fixed the flats, but got o% of it -- one dollar , one hour :) - LindsayRichardsExplorerIn college, I worked at an all night gas station and we got down to 19.9 once.
