- John___AngelaExplorerI hope by the time our little diesel smart cars wear out there will be a larger diesel market place in North America. It would be hard to get any less than 70 MPG again :) Having said that something like a Prius plug in hybrid would be a better fit for us as our commute is only about 26 KM per day. Essentially our day to day drive would be on straight electric everyday.
We spent some time in Central America last year. Half the cars on the road there are diesel. Very rare to see anything made in the US or Canada there. Most vehicles come from Mexico and overseas. The tough part is importing them. Would be nice if we could get a little more access to the smaller economical vehicles available in the world instead of the big heavy junk produced up here. - Ski_Pro_3ExplorerCalifornia, through it's CARB gestapo, is doing all it can within it's power to prevent diesels to become a viable motor for passenger cars. Why? Because they would then loose power to control. It's all about their own quest to control.

- SRTExplorerSome of the stations being reported on Gas Buddy have increased their prices to $3.49 from $3.34 a gallon. Didn't make it out for non-ethanol gas yesterday so I better hustle today.
- noe-placeExplorerWell I spoke too soon. Regular went from $3.36 to $3.59 today. Knew it was too good to last.

Yeah they stayed the same here as well and I am very surprised they didn't go up by now.
Me too. But here in Colorado the prices remained high while oil was dropping or stable. So they are still too high. But they'll go up anyway. - SRTExplorerWell, with the happenings in Egypt I see the oil price just a few moments ago was $103.63 a barrel. Wouldn't be surprised if gasoline prices jump this week. Guess I better go out this morning and get 10 gallons of non-ethanol for the small engines before the increases. :E
Oh, yeah, our local gasoline prices are $3.33 and $3.34 a gallon this morning. - noe-placeExplorerYeah they stayed the same here as well and I am very surprised they didn't go up by now.
- SRTExplorerwell, it is now several days past the 4th. Gasoline prices didn't go up for Independence Day (remember the movie?), but have stagnated. Hopefully prices will start another downward drift.

Our first trip to Indiana and Michigan. I did not know about the difference in price of "AUTO" diesel and the "Truck Pumps". You cannot fuel private vehicles at the "big rig" pumps at either Pilot or Loves. Won't even hold your card and let you fuel. I have been from California to Florida, and Texas to Montana, and this the first time I have experience this. Price is about $.25-$.30 more for a RV/private vehicle.
Having not been to the exact locations you are talking about I can't say for sure, but being in the trucking business myself I'll make a guess that what you are seeing it the price of fuel minus State Fuel taxes. Many trucking companies pay their fuel tax quarterly or once a year, and not every time they fuel their trucks.
So in many situations the advertised price you see on a billboard or lighted sign is the price truckers pay and not the price private vehicles have to pay. Yes it can be deceiving and confusing. Hope this helps with your experience and observations. Hans
I have been across the US many times and always watch the price of fuel. Most often as not I just look for the regular stations that have diesel as they are traditionaly far cheaper than the "Pilot, Flying J and TA's". I look for RV friendly stations and also look to see if there are several stations doing diesel. The only state that is screwed up is Fl as they are not RV friendly at several stations, whereas you cannot get in often.
