Lithium batteries are volatile. They've been around a long time, but were thought only to be suitable for isolated duty, like buoys out at sea, where an explosion probably wouldn't harm anyone. I guess there are still some problems taming that tiger.
I have not heard of any Volts blowing up. the new batteries are far better then old. The Volt generally gets anywhere between 38 to 46 miles on a charge. So generally I save $6.00 a day X 365 = 2100+ a year.
According to folks at GM new batteries should be coming on line in about 2 years, can't wait!
Not sure when dealers order the new 2015 2500's. Need to find out as am getting one for sure. another can't wait! - FezziwigExplorerLithium batteries are volatile. - RambleOnNWExplorer IIYeah, only up 573% instead of 624% in the last year.
- BumpyroadExplorerI see Tesla stock dropped 6% after one burst into flames.

I believe the charge includes gasoline to go 300 miles same as the Volt.
The new Caddy electric is a 300 mile car on one charge.- Greydog_1ExplorerSince gov't is shut down, they should quit adding the Fed tax to gas. That will bring down prices quite well. Oh well, dream on.
- SRTExplorerGasoline prices continue to drift downward. This morning these prices vary from $3.32 to $3.37. Diesel prices vary from $3.83 to $3.99. The oil price is $102.04. Anyone think the prices will be down around $3.00 a gallon by Christmas up here???

For awhile it was getting pretty close to 20 bucks to fill the smart car with diesel but that's down a bit now too.
Yes, twenty dollars! Thats cute, just like the car. What does a full fillup in the "2003 Revolution 40C Class A" run these days?
Our "saving" vehicle is a TDI Jetta that never gets less than 43mpg around town and close to 50mpg freeway. 97,000 miles and never been to the dealer for a single repair. Just fuel, synthetic oil, and on it's second set of tires.
Gasoline around Buckley WA $3.59 Regular and Diesel is still up there at just under four at $3.89. Hans - John___AngelaExplorer

Geeze, prices at a few stations have dropped another 3¢ a gallon for regular to $3.35. Seems every few days prices drop a few more pennies. Oil prices this morning are $102.XX a barrel. Gee, who wodda thunk..:h
Prices where we are really haven't changed more than 10 to 12 cents per litre in the last 4 years. For awhile it was getting pretty close to 20 bucks to fill the smart car with diesel but that's down a bit now too.
