- tomman58ExplorerFuel dropped 2 cents in MS. The new GM trucks are out to look at on the net. Like the new dash and the more robust side views. Great! Can't wait! Bring on the new diesel and the 8 speed trans. An American truck, made in Michigan by Michiganders.
- Gas is around $3.50 here but I don't really track it much.
- LindsayRichardsExplorerI looked at that very hard and finally decided it was a weather station rather than a power producing windmill. It was right at the front of the frame and hard to tell. I thought it might have been some kind of power generator for the battery to operate the camera, but that seemed really useless with all of the internal combustion going on around there. I have seen weather stations like that, but they usually have rain gauges and a tower for signal sending. A couple of AGM batteries would have done the job for the whole project which is less than a couple of months. Really neat video I thought and the total foot print was about that of a truck stop or strip mall. It's not like Texas is lacking in scrub country that an acre less would hurt. The water (cubical tanks) was hauled in stored and then recycled to the next project.

I agree whole heartedly. Instead, we used good old American coal and natural gas to make the electricity, the fossil fuels of the future. Buy American. They will still be supplying 80% of our energy needs through 2040 and beyond according to the Dept of Energy. Bad tailpipe; good smokestack.
Lindsay, you keep us all honest on this thread. By the way, did you notice the windmill operating in the foreground of the video you linked for the well drilling. Good video by the way. Hans - W4RLRExplorerBack to the subject of this thread. Gas is $2.99, diesel is $3.85.

That is a lot of crude not imported.

Regretfully diesel remains hovering around the $4.00 mark. Looks like supply and demand are not working for diesel.

85 Octane at one station was $3.13 yesterday. Big whoop! Diesel still up there at $3.79.
SRT - I bought a new '80 Olds station wagon with that gas-come-diesel piece of junk. If I remember right, and I may not, it was about that time that diesel rose to or above regular in Maryland.
Had a friend with one of those rambling wrecks. He spent a bunch of $$ converting to a gas engine. - tomman58ExplorerDiesel in La 3.79 Miss 3.89
Had bad moment at "small" gas station no room to turn out and caught my tool box on rear bumper on pole protecting gas pumps. guy came out and was sorry that his van limited my turning radius just enough for the tool box to not clear. Oh-well could've been worse (DW words mot mine). Should cost about $200 to restore to new again, NBD. - LindsayRichardsExplorerNeat time lapse video of a Texas oil well being drilled, fracked and put into production to get domestic oil. Video takes less than 2 minutes.
