But $3.12 in Tucson?? Let's face it, we are getting ripped at every level. - LindsayRichardsExplorerWe are down to $3.31 at the high volume places like Wal-Mart. (Central Florida).
- SRTExplorerThe new gasoline price is now $3.95 a gallon in this area. We'll shortly see if the price will reach $4.00 a gallon. In my opinion these price increases are partly due to the FED continuing to print money since the prices are in U.S. dollars. Oil price is $94.28 right now. Wonder if there is a refinery that has shut down for maintenance.
- LindsayRichardsExplorerWhen I worked in the Orange Juice industry, I went to Brazil and saw the ethanol plants from sugar cane. Their waste (bagas) is a dried fiber from the cane and is hauled to the orange juice plants to burn for steam for the plant and to make electricity. The smoke is horrible and would never be tolerated here. I have been on top of their stacks and you can see a stream green with plant life running towards the plant. Downstream from the plant everything is dead. That wouldn't fly here. The cars run on straight ethanol. They all have manual chokes and it is about a minute process to get one ready to run safely. Probably better now. They also have very large deep water oil offshore they are exploiting. Many of the 24 deep water oil rigs left the Gulf after the long drilling moratorium and went to Brazil. The Western US ethanol plants look very big, but are small compared to Brazil. It is just a political thing by the corn states.
- Desert_CaptainExplorer IIIEthanol works in Brazil because they make it out of sugar cane. Making ethanol out of corn is the biggest scam in recent memory. Big Corn rivals Big Oil when it comes to the BS about their product. Every gallon of corn based Ethanol puts the us further behind and drives the cost of food up world wide. We buy more, not less oil from overseas as a direct consequence of US corn based ethanol. :S
Regular continues to sell for $3.11 here in Tucson. - Greydog_1ExplorerIf ethanol crashes into the ocean, then let's all go swimming. Party time!!
- LindsayRichardsExplorerDon't know where you got that idea, but it is totally false. 40% of the US corn crop goes into our gasoline. An alcohol spill would not be nearly as bad as an oil spill as it is water soluble. At least a gin and tonic is.

Interesting. Where does the corn come from? - BonefishExplorerNearly all the ethanol blended into gasoline is imported from south America. You think an oil spill is bad wait until you have a tanker full of ethanol have an accident.
The best CO2 scrubbers are already out there----TREES. Just plant a few in your yards. - LindsayRichardsExplorerWe have proven resources of natural gas of a century. We have plenty of it to sell to Europe for their transportation fuel. Forbes rates Detroit the worst city in the US you know.
