I don't want to sound like I am beating up on you, but the insurance company will assert that your problems are due to lack of maintenance in the case of the window leaks. And, they will assert that you did not do due dalliance to prevent your water lines from freezing. That in my opinion is where it will stand.
It will then be up to you to prove that the windows were a design defect or installed incorrectly. Not any easy box to get out of.
I don't think you have any defense against your water line freezing.
You just aren't going to find an insurance company that will cover water leaks or similar types of losses. That is the way I see it. All the policies are going to exclude those types of damages. If they covered water leaks, they'd soon be swamped with claims, everyone that didn't do any maintenance would be lining up to get their rig fixed. Soon they would be bankrupt.
I have been in that predicament. I had leaks, I thought I had taken care of them. But apparently I didn't do enough. I had damage, I was on my dime.
