I don't want to sound like I am beating up on you, but the insurance company will assert that your problems are due to lack of maintenance in the case of the window leaks. And, they will assert that you did not do due dalliance to prevent your water lines from freezing. That in my opinion is where it will stand.
It will then be up to you to prove that the windows were a design defect or installed incorrectly. Not any easy box to get out of.
I don't think you have any defense against your water line freezing.
You just aren't going to find an insurance company that will cover water leaks or similar types of losses. That is the way I see it. All the policies are going to exclude those types of damages. If they covered water leaks, they'd soon be swamped with claims, everyone that didn't do any maintenance would be lining up to get their rig fixed. Soon they would be bankrupt.
I have been in that predicament. I had leaks, I thought I had taken care of them. But apparently I didn't do enough. I had damage, I was on my dime.
Actually, that's my point of this. I am just curious to see if there is any policy language that is a little more friendly than mine. You are exactly right...they are going to claim this or that and not cover leaks or freezes...just trying to see if there is someone better than my carrier as I am purchasing a new unit and want to review coverage.....
This was prompted by a guy on another site who had a water leak from his ice maker and ended up replacing the slideout floor...sometimes you just can't tell about a unit leaking. I don't any issues so this is just an exercise in trying to see if different carriers have different policy language. Thanks for the thoughts.
