Wife needs to be happy. Perhaps mix and road trip to new to you port of debarkation and then a cruise?
Or, just fly to Italy! 3 days in Rome and then pick a seaside resort area, Cinque Terra (3 adjacent seaside towns) or Positano? Or whatever country your wife always wanted to visit. I've seen ads for overseas cruises as well though I don't have any experience.
Actually consider something like that if you have the funds. We prefer camping by far as normal vacation (not yet retired) but there are grand trips out there worth taking. What's your planning timeline?
