I was in DFW with the RV a few weeks ago. Severe storms with tornadoes were expected to hit after 2am. I went to the office and asked where the tornado shelter or storm was. They didn't have one or know what I meant. I asked if a church or school nearby had one, no idea. So I rode it out in the MH. I was surprised, because they get far more severe weather in TX than we do up north.
Having went thru what would likely now be a F5 in Wicthita Falls over 50 years ago, I am appropriately phobic about tornadoes. When we travel in the areas, we make sure every park we stay at has a shelter available. Locals seem to be so lackadaisical about them. Until they happen. We also adjust our travels depending upon predictions. We were on our way to Tulsa from Biloxi via DFW in 2013. Been a slow tornado year. Long range predictions for DFW suggested the possibility, so we stayed south heading towards Albuquerque. The Dallas area had one. As did Moore, OK.
