So, in following the 10 pages of this thread.....And getting back to the initial subject..... We are full timers who usually move once a week, with the exception of the Winter, and have been rv'ing for 25 plus years.
I do agree with a couple of your statements. We have run across several rv parks that are Mom and Pop run, that could be so much better. By designating a " full time " section of the park, vs cramming travelers together, ... .Having all spots 50 amp, etc. It's a happy medium, and a catch 22, for personal owners ( not Corporate ), spending money to upgrade vs the bottom line of surviving. Some serious changes need to be made at many, many rv parks.
If we pull in, our site is easy to navigate, has a good view ( or not ), the utilities all work well, and the price is reasonable, we really don't give a flying fiddidly how the park is run. We are there to hook up, use the utilities, have a safe place to park, and enjoy life. We use rv parks as a place to sleep and have security, while going on with our lives. If there is actually internet that works, we consider that a giant bonus, since it doesn't happen often.
There is little, if any interaction with employees of the park after check in, except for the occasional wave.
We don't use the showers, a pool, spa, pickleball court, or any amenities some have to offer. Yes, I agree, there are some poorly run rv parks around, but as stated above, if the basic offerings are in place, it really doesn't matter to us.
Our map will show you the States we have spent a lot of time in, and across our map, have yet to run into a disrespectful employee at an rv park. On the contrary, the employees seem to work with us, and for us, better, when they find out we are on the road, just passing through.
It would be nice to be able to change everything we don't agree with, and the faults and errors we come in contact with daily, but, that is a long list, that will never happen. It's not just rv parks, it's major Corporations whose Customer Service is so lacking, you wonder how the heck they are still in business.
I wish you luck with your endeavors, and hope you find peace and solitude somewhere along the road you are traveling.
Thanks for your thoughtful post back on topic. And your kind sentiments but I assure you that I have all the peace and solitude any one man could ask for. I have lived a great life and am enjoying my life now too.
I don;t view these issues as something for me to change. It's more like a sadness, Like seeing a really bright underachieving child knowing there is so much potential there and it is being wasted. I look at some of these parks and think. If it were MY Retirement security that was at stake I'd surely make some changes. But that's just me.
It was just observational from my experiences on the road over more than two years. It was never meant to paint the entire industry or every RV Park as some have twisted my words to indicate.
