RV Rental With Driver? Possible?

I promise, I'm not as full of myself as this makes it sound. :-)

My wife and I both really hate to fly. We're going to need to get (only one-way) from Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale next year. Amtrak gets REALLY expensive when you get sleeping quarters, and this specific route will be two days on a train followed by a long day in a rental car.

For what Amtrak will charge, it occurs to me there must be some kind of "executive transportation"/"band transportation" type service where they'd provide an RV, a driver, etc...

I can't find any such service online.

Am I crazy? Does such a thing exist?
  • Go cheap. Any way not in an RV will cheap when you compare the costs.
  • I can assure you that your plan to rent an RV and a driver for a coast to coast trip will cost you LOTS more than taking the train premium class...

(maybe fly and take a sedative.)
  • Too much money to do this. The RV rental alone will cost more than the Amtrak tickets. And you'll still have to make your own meals. Plus Amtrak is pretty much hassle free. Meals are included with bedrooms. Sit and relax, bring reading material and a DVD player.

Why a long day in a rental car? There is an Amtrak station in Ft. Lauderdale.
  • For the right price , pretty much anything exists !

Disclaimer : continue reading if you have an RV...

Do you have an RV ?
I'm sure there would be somebody that would "for the right price" chauffeur / drive YOUR RV out there and back for ya.
Depending on time of year heck I'd be available to do it :)
    OR
Take your time enjoy your RV drive across country then pay for a one-way out to Ft. Lauderdale From SMF and then another one-way from LAX to SMF along with some folding money to pay for gas/food and I'd drive your RV back for ya :)

I know not much help for ya , but never know unless you put it out there ;)
  • I've never heard of such a thing but have to think there is no way it would be economical. Renting the RV for a one way 4-5 days to get from CA to FL, paying for gas (350 gallons +/-), driver time, meals and transportation back. Is the driver going to sleep in the RV or at a hotel?
