Start adding up all those quarters you drop in the washers/dryers every month. After about 2 years you will realize that you could have bought that washer/dryer unit for your RV after all. Or, continue to freak out over who is doing what at the CG laundry mat.
This is really not as bizarre as it may sound. For the last several years (at home), we have been putting a dollar in a small bucket for every load of laundry we do. This is still much cheaper than a laundry mat, but it was easy to track. The dollar paid for the wash and the dry.
After just a few months, we had over $300 in the bucket, enough to pay for several week-end campsites for the next year.
We continued doing this until we remodeled the laundry room. Then we had enough money saved up by doing this, we paid (out of the laundry fund) for a new front loader washer and dryer. Ever since we got the front loaders, we've been putting in $3.00 for each load, and it adds up fast! We saved enough money this way to pay for the new washer and dryer a couple times over now. We use the money for camping expenses.
Our laundry money is paying for all our fuel for our Florida 2 week trip in March for our 30th wedding anniversary vacation. It's already paid for our campsites and the rest will be used for fuel (diesel), recreation, and food. So, basically, our entire anniversary vacation is 100% paid in advance .... all because we've set aside $3.00 for each load of laundry. It adds up fast!
So you know, that quarter a load is a VERY good way to start! Once you save a few bucks, you'll want to up the amount. Before long it will be such a second nature and you'll always have cash on hand, you'll wonder how you could not get along without this simple activity.
