X-1,2,3 - - thank you!
More campsites available for CA folks!.:C
Although the areas involved have nothing to do with campgrounds!.:S
The original "problem" had nothing to do with climate, etc.
There haven't been "bonfires" on any of the beaches in question
in years.
Only fires in designated fire rings.
Anyway, it had everything to do with mega bucks folks who live in Newport Beach - along an area which is very close (steps) to/from the beach - and conversely, steps from their front doors.
The onshore is/was blowing all the smoke from the designated fire rings back into their houses.
Just up the coast in Huntington Beach, it was no problem.
The fire rings are a loooooong distance from any homes, condos, etc.
HB joined the fight to *KEEP* the fire rings.
All parties reached a compromise.
However - there is/was no doubt - if you're downwind of a fire on the
beach - you're going to eat some smoke.
Pretty easy to get out of the "plume" if you're on foot - not so
easy if you live in the plume of several of the rings.
Even *if* AQMD wants to prohibit "bonfires" on the So. CA beaches,
they will face a long and protracted battle (and no doubt lawsuits).
Much ado about nothing..:R
BTW - (X-1,2,3) PLEASE tell your neighbors, and kin - what a terrible
place CA is!..:(
Ask why they left -:h- - and encourage 'em to move back to *your* hometown, USA..:C.:C.
Your efforts are appreciated!
~ - Water-BugExplorer III think that it is time for the eastern states to file a lawsuit against California and Colorado for not controling their wildfires. Since California has already determined that small wood fires cause climate change, it only follows that wildfires are a MAJOR contributor. Furthermore, prevailing winds blow all that polution east. If California cannot control their wildfires, they should be forced to find a way of preventing the polution from leaving their state. To date, the state of California has not spent a single penny on research or implementation of a controls to prevent their wildfire pollution from moving to other states. If California was on the east coast, the lawsuit would have been filed against the rest of the country years ago.

i bet they end up charging a fee. its all about the green.
You've probably got it. A 20 buck fee per day would stop beach fires from, "causing cancer in Kalifornia". Next, the political wackoes will sue Mother Nature for starting forest fires without a permit. Can we imagine the difference between a night of beach fire compared to one second of a forest fire? The Gestapos must lay awake nights thinking up ways to stop the taxpayers from having any recreation... IMo.. - qtla9111NomadAh, but they are selling the heck out of propane camp fires. Well duh! Fossil fuels, heat, need I go on. Pls don't tell me it is less harmful. Sustainability, puhleez. It is an agreement signed by 179 nations to make a lot of money and control people. Agenda 21.

Problem is, what happens in CA soon spreads to the rest of the US. Take the anti-overnighting ordinances for example. Used to just be a CA thing, now one has to have an active app to keep track of the places that will ticket or even arrest people pulled over for a few hours of shut-eye.
I absolutely agree with that statement. People don't realize how wonderful California was, but you get what you get with the new breed of California voters. - dodge_guyExplorer IIBonfires are now the reason for global warming? HA HA! LOL! Maybe they can just put a catalytic converter or a DPF system on the fire pit!
This country is getting ever more nuts! - deleted-2ExplorerIn other news:
Long Beach CA wants to ban the music from the ice cream trucks around the city.
Pretty soon us Calivictims won't be able to do anything anywhere anytime.
Everything will be against the law. - E_J_push_n_windExplorerSo what are they gonna do about the emissions that come out of the earth naturally? That's gotta contribute to "global warming." I'd bet one volcano (the whole of Yosemitte is an active volcano) emits more "green house gasses" than all of industry combined in one year. There are active volcanos all over the world including under the sea. You can believe that those "emissions" find their way to the atmosphere as well. Global warming, while it may be happening depending on the "scientist" you speak with. Some simple little bon fires along the beach and at a camp site is NOT gonna warm the world. One mans opinion!

X3 - mboppExplorerWhat many people forget is that wood is considered CO2 neutral, it's the fossil fuels that had the carbon locked up for millions of years that's now being released.
