Sad Camping Season for us!

After getting back home from our week long trip to the lake for Memorial Day, my DH was uncovering the air conditioner when the ladder leg broke. Down he came! His hand hit our chain link fence on the way down, cutting his hand from the top through the web of his little and ring finger, down into the palm. Took 14 stitches to close it, and the bone between the first knuckle of his little finger and his wrist is broken.
Here we are 8 weeks later and he is still in a 1/2 cast, looking at another 2-3 weeks. (Dr said he isn't a spring chicken any more and it takes longer for us "old folks" to heal....) plus we are looking at physical therapy later so he can regain use of his fingers.
Of course, this happened to his dominate hand.
So, we have been off the lake, out of the campground, staying at home just wishin' we were fishin'.....

So, I thank you all, here on our forum, for letting me live through your adventures and seeing your pictures - it has helped this Ole Gal enjoy the treats of being out and about!

Thank you, Okie

I have to agree with beckid, I have been driving our RV's since our cab over camper, to our '30 pull behind and now our '32 class A. I think all RV wives should be driving!

    Dear Husband. ;)

Here's a list of the common Abbreviations and Acronyms used on RV.NET and other RV forums.

  • What awful luck! You do have a good attitude and you know, if YOU can drive that rig you can still go camping! I have been the one driving all thru our camping adventures because my DH doesn't like to. Starting with the pop-up, through the 30' TT and now with the 35' Class A. You can do it! I'll bet on the hard stuff like torquing the sewer hoses and so on, a nice person would help - seeing the injury your DH has. I would if I were camping next to you!

I just realized, not much deters me when it comes to getting out on the road and into a nice campsite!
  • I feel your pain. I had back surgery in August 2011 and the MH sit for almost a year. Hang in there, it will get better. We are heading out next week for two weeks in Colorado.
  • Very sorry to hear this. I experienced the same type of thing on my first week in Florida for a winter 3 month stay. Spent the entire winter in the motor home, disabled. Life can be a bummer, sure hope he comes out of this in good shape. Your attitude is good, that will help.
