Sad commentary

I can relate to what some are saying , granted these were the Manufactures "models" but we walked through them and saw :
Ceilings bowed where the A/C ducting was in several of them.
Shower faucet control had been mounted too low was raised and right in plain sight was the two wholes in the shower wall, they didn't even take the time too put some caulking to cover up the holes , BUT the shower stall should have been pulled out and replaced.
A screw sticking down through the ceiling .
Molding piece to cover corner joint glued on with 1/2 gap at the bottom and 1 inch gap at the top , should have been brad nailed in place in the first place.
Cabinet doors mounted crooked or where two closed butted up gaps and or lined up uneven.
Some mentioned Amish craftsmanship ! Obviously NOT showing here!

These models are their pride of workmanship for all to see on display.
Prices on them had started at $85K on up to over $150K

These models will be sold. Still can't believe they would send out such terrible workmanship of the product for all to see !

I sure as heck don't understand... If I was looking to drop $20,000+ on a new RV, I sure as heck wouldn't consider one that had shoddy workmanship when I walked through it. When I walked through similar products at my dealership, they were all clean, put together and without any obvious defects. If I looked at trailers that were falling apart, I would turn around and leave that dealership. Not sure why anyone would pay good money for a substandard product...

I don't think you fully understand it.

Most of us are referring to the shoddy workmanship at the manufacturing facilities that must be REPAIRED before the RVs are even fit to leave the dealerships. We are not talking about the dealer setup and options that must be dealt with before the purchaser can take delivery.

I worked on construction equipment for over 40 years the 15 as service manager. Be for that farm machinery. Never did I work for a company that put things out for sale that wasn't ready to sell. New units got a PDI and used units were made ready be for they were sold.
I have had RV salesman tell me that if I buy it they will check it over and fix what's wrong. Why would anyone go along with that. If a new unit needs work before it should be sold they should not sell it.
Many dealers have good RVs in the lot ready to sell, people should go there.
Yes I have seen good camping world stores.

Wonder if OP was referring to "problems" and not PDI / set up.

Even New Automotive Dealerships have to perform a PDI on every new vehicle. Set up depending on what vehicle, some options are still dealer installed.

Granted nothing like a TT or RV but still has to perform one.

If I did have a chance at spending a couple of days at an RV manufacturing plant, I would probably not want to buy an RV anyhow! Well, maybe that would save me some $$$$$!

Someday, folks will finally figure it out, buying an RV is NOT like buying a car or renting an apartment. They are not ready to go directly from the factory, at all.

Now, if a dealership gets a flood of new RV's, and they have only so many number of employees, yes ... it takes times to get to each of them. This is just the nature of the business.

I wish everyone who own an RV could do two things. 1: Spend 2 days working at an RV manufacturing plan. and 2: Spend 2 days working at a dealership. Doing so would open your eyes to the industry.
