We currently have Direct and will be switching to Dish..I have already purchased receivers and PathwayX2. Can't wait until May when Direct contract expires to start with direct.

Another thumbs up for the Pathway X2. I bought a package deal from Winegard with the antenna and a VIP211k. Set-up is easy. Just make sure you have good cable and good connections. It's rather touchy about that (don't ask me how I know).

When I first got my 'C', I had an expensive in motion dish receiver mounted to the roof. Expensive and stupid. First, I'm a single RVer and have no desire to watch TV while I'm driving. And even when stopped in an RV park, if the satellite is blocked by trees, no reception. It turned out that almost every RV park I stay at has full hookups including cable and WIFI, so I never use it. The park cable doesn't always have the stations I usually watch, but at the very least there's news and weather, and its noise. I'd have it removed, but it would leave a pretty big hole in the roof.

Another thumbs up for the Pathway X2. It works great and has great reception.

We bought a Tailgater this year and associated receiver. Are very
pleased with its ease of setting up. We place ours on the roof
next to the ladder and chain it with a bicycle chain. Have a
compass and level to get it set up straight. Use separated wood
clothes pins to shim the feet if necessary. Most reception problems
come from inclement weather-primarily downpours!

In addition, the maximum capacity drive the 211 will support is 2TB. Dish recommends using a self powered drive, not a USB powered one. If the drive is powered by a separate "wall wart", that's what they mean.

As previously noted - you can only get SD with DirecTV.
(But of course you have the choice of either satellite service)

*If* you have DirecTV at your sticks and bricks, you already have a sat box, so no additional equipment req'd.

*If* you might change services from Dish to DirecTV or vice versa, for whatever reason - you have it covered.

The roof mount option is also a plus..;)

One thing to remember is that the DirectTV automatic portable sat dishes can only receive their SD signal. If you want to use one of the 'golf ball' sat receivers and you want HD, then Dish is the only choice. That's why I did not even consider one of the portable sat dishes that will work for both Dish and DirectTV.
