Saving sites - opinions

The one in Knox County? The Camp Host operates it according to his rules.

I reserve the spot that I want. It never occurred to me to leave the beautiful lake side spots for the people with the larger trailers. Actually, we enjoyed watching them trying to back into the smaller spots that they neglected to reserve. I didn't realize that those people should have been treated to the privileged spots. My bad!

If they didn't reserve the site, that's their problem....

I DO RESERVE and I do get P.O.'d at those who think they deserve a 60 foot site for their 18 foot trailer... and don't care that I paid my money and drove however many miles to get there only to find that they decided they should take a big spot because they can... it ain't courteous and it ain't right..

Exactly... and I paid to reserve the site so my trailer would fit, they took a site 50 feet longer than their trailer... Get over yourself.. you got a little trailer... take a little site...

We were in a Gov't Park 2 days before a long weekend that did not take reservations. It was first come etc. The rule was you had to have at least a tent and accessories set up in a site for it to be properly occupied. At the strip mall down the road the convenience store sold "Barby" camping sets for 5 bucks. The CG looked like the land of the little people the day before the long weekend. The ranger informed me they were rewriting the rule for the next long weekend.

We saw the same thing this past weekend. It was a state park where half the sites were reservable and half FCFS. We were looking for a FCFS site and one had lawn chairs but no tag on the post. We didn't think anything of it - thought it as a B or C that was out driving. Well, later that day a pop-up pulled in and turns out they were "with" the folks on the next-door site. The first folks came early to get their site plus the one next to them.

It worked out OK for us since there were enough open sites, but geesh - I can see where this can get out of hand and wreck it for the folks that show up before the chair folks do. Next time we'll alert the ranger if no tag.

In my neck of the woods, the ranger at the station will tell you to go pick out a site and place something like a lawn chair in the drive while you go to pay for it. I am in the N.E. Ohio W. Pa. area. I'm not saying thats what people are doing, just the way it works up here.
I usually leave the old lady to guard the site while I sign up. If you want the site, you gotta take her with it.:B

Me, "What chair?" as I innocently look under my trailer at the crushed chair, "Oops, I didn't see the chair!"
